Bab El Assa occupies the southeastern end of the Place du Mechouar as a primary entrance to the Kasbah, the fortified district of Tangier. The gateway consists of stone arches featuring decorative motifs typical of traditional Islamic architectural styles. An elaborately carved stone bench sits between the inner and outer sections of the passage.
