Mosquée Sidi Bouabid

The minaret of the Sidi Bouabid Mosque is instantly recognizable for its intricate, multicolored tilework, featuring distinct scaly and diamond-shaped patterns that shimmer above the western edge of the Grand Socco. Built in nineteen seventeen, this place of worship was constructed on the site of the tomb of a local saint of the same name. Its design is a blend of traditional Andalusian and Moroccan styles, supported by funds from benefactors who hailed from the High-Atlas region.
