The Beit Yehouda Synagogue, known locally as the Assayag Synagogue, occupies a two-story building in the heart of the Tangier medina. You can identify the structure by its blend of Moroccan and Andalusian design, featuring a central patio surrounded by corridors and a prayer hall illuminated from above by a large skylight. Founded in eighteen ninety, it served as a place of worship for the local Jewish community until the late nineteen fifties.
