Mendoubia Garden

The Mendoubia Garden is a green, shaded public park defined by its massive, sprawling banyan and fig trees, some of which are said to be several centuries old. It occupies a site once dominated by nineteenth-century cemeteries, later transformed into this public space in the late two thousands. The garden surrounds the historic Mendoubia building, a former mansion that served as the residence and administrative office for the Mendoub, the Sultan’s representative during the era when Tangier functioned as an international zone.
