Grand Hotel Villa de France

The Grand Hotel Villa de France sits at the edge of the former diplomatic quarter, its Belle Époque façade overlooking the Grand Socco and the minaret of the Sidi Bouabid Mosque. Originally constructed in the late nineteenth century as the residence for the senior French diplomat in Tangier, the building later transitioned into a hotel. It eventually became a preferred destination for European aristocracy, including the Duke of Guise and the Marquess of Bute, drawn by its commanding views across the medina to the Strait of Gibraltar.
