Phoenician tombs

historic

The Phoenician Tombs are identified by a series of rectangular cavities carved directly into the surface of a rocky sandstone cliff. This ancient necropolis occupies an elevated hillside position that overlooks the Strait of Gibraltar and the Bay of Tangier. The site consists of dozens of these hollowed-out burial chambers, which have been weathered by time and often hold rainwater.
