Grand Socco

The Grand Socco is a broad, slightly sloping, and quasi-circular plaza that functions as the primary gateway between the narrow, labyrinthine alleys of the old medina and the wide, French-influenced boulevards of the new city. You can pick it out by the large marble fountain at its center, which is often ringed by palm trees and benches where locals and travelers pause to watch the constant flow of traffic, taxis, and pedestrians.
