Gran Teatro Cervantes

The Gran Teatro Cervantes rises from the street with an elaborate facade, marked by a date of nineteen thirteen displayed in tile work. Designed by architect Diego Jiménez Armstrong, the building features Art Nouveau and Andalusian details that distinguish its exterior from the surrounding structures. It was financed by a local Spanish couple, Manuel Peña and his wife Esperanza Orellana, to serve the growing community of Spanish residents living in Tangier at the start of the twentieth century.
