FENIX

The Fenix is marked by a double-helix, stainless steel staircase called the Tornado that twists upward from its flat roof, visible from the waterfront of the Katendrecht peninsula. This building occupies the shell of the former San Francisco warehouse, a structure designed by architect Cornelis Nicolaas van Goor and completed in nineteen twenty-three. At the time of its construction, the building held the title of the largest storage and transshipment warehouse in the world.
