The Markthal rises above the Binnenrotte as a colossal, horseshoe-shaped arch, easily identified by its sheer scale and the vast, transparent glass cable-net façades that enclose each end. Opened in October two thousand fourteen, the building functions as a hybrid structure, wrapping two hundred twenty-eight residential apartments around a cavernous, covered marketplace. This arch spans forty meters in height and one hundred twenty meters in length, shielding an eleven-thousand-square-meter food hall from the elements.
