St. Lawrence Church

St. Lawrence Church, or the Grote Kerk, is the only late Gothic building from the medieval city of Rotterdam that remains standing. Construction of this cruciform basilica took place between fourteen forty-nine and fifteen twenty-five, making it the first all-stone structure in the city. A bronze statue of the humanist Desiderius Erasmus stands outside its walls, dating back to sixteen twenty-two.
