Bazarstraat

Bazarstraat began in eighteen sixty-eight as a private connecting road through the garden of Dirk de Boer, the owner of the Groote Koninklijke Bazar on the Zeestraat. De Boer constructed this path to link Sophialaan and Anna Paulownastraat, naming the street after his famous bazaar. The municipality officially took over the street three years later, by which time the area had become a setting for spacious, stately homes built for the wealthy.
