Praza das Praterías

The Praza das Praterías is defined by the heavy, dark stone of the cathedral’s south facade, which stands as the only Romanesque doorway of the building to survive in its original form. Built between eleven hundred three and eleven hundred seventeen, this facade remains a patchwork of history, featuring stone carvings gathered from various parts of the structure over the centuries. In the center of the square, the Fonte dos Cabalos, a fountain added in eighteen twenty-five, features four horse heads and a central figure holding the star of Saint James.
