Rúa da Porta Faxeira

The Rúa da Porta Faxeira marks the boundary where the medieval walled city of Santiago de Compostela once met the open land. It takes its name from the Porta Faxeira, one of the seven historic gates that controlled access to the town. While the walls were demolished during the nineteenth century, this street serves as the principal transition point between the dense, stone-lined paths of the Old Town and the expansive green space of the Alameda park.
