Bundesterrasse

The Bundesterrasse is a wide, open promenade situated directly on the southern edge of the Federal Palace. You can identify this space by the sweeping, unobstructed view it offers toward the Marzili neighborhood and the Aare River below, set against the backdrop of the Bernese Alps. It sits on the high ground where the city’s defensive fortifications once stood, physically separating the stone bulk of the parliament buildings from the steep drop toward the riverbanks.
