Brighton Fisherman's Society

The Brighton Fisherman's Society occupies a set of brick arches built into the stone structure of the lower promenade along the seafront. These arches have served the local fishing community since their construction in eighteen sixty-four, acting as a physical anchor for a trade that once defined the entire town. While the arches originally provided space for storing nets and managing the catch, they also housed social and educational missions during the nineteenth century, including a reading room and a meeting space for the society formed by the fishermen in eighteen thirteen.
