The Epstein Theatre occupies a prominent stone and brick building on Hanover Street, distinguished by a canted corner bay that marks its entrance. Originally opened in nineteen sixteen as Crane’s Concert Hall, it was built above a music store to showcase the pianos sold by the Crane Brothers. Inside, the auditorium features ornate Victorian-style mahogany paneling, fluted Ionic pilasters, and plaster busts of famous composers, reflecting its early purpose as a space for instrumental recitals.
