Skygate stands twenty-six feet high as a twisted arch of stainless steel along the Embarcadero near Pier thirty-five. It was unveiled in nineteen eighty-five as the city's first piece of public art commissioned by a private corporation, the insurance brokerage Johnson and Higgins.
