Blue Heron Lake is the largest body of water in Golden Gate Park, recognizable as a twelve-acre, doughnut-shaped basin that encircles the wooded Strawberry Hill. Completed in eighteen ninety-three, the lake was designed as a recreational space for leisure boating and carriage promenades, with stone bridges connecting its shores to the central island.
