Marina Airfield Historical Marker

The Marina Airfield historical marker sits at the base of a flagpole on the Marina Green, near the intersection of Marina Boulevard and Avila Street. This stretch of grass was once a bustling airfield, originally established as part of the nineteen fifteen Panama-Pacific International Exposition. During the two hundred and sixty-six days of that world's fair, exhibition pilots performed daily flight demonstrations here to entertain crowds of thousands.
