Oldest House Museum & Gardens Key West

The Oldest House Museum and Gardens is recognizable by its hand-dressed clapboard walls and its surrounding white fence on Duval Street. Built in eighteen twenty-nine by merchant Richard Cussans, this structure was originally located on Whitehead Street. At that time, Duval Street did not exist, as much of the area was still a salt pond. The house was relocated to its current site in the eighteen thirties to accommodate the growing family of Captain Francis Watlington, a wrecker and coastal pilot.
