The Keeper's Quarters Museum is identified by the tall, white conical lighthouse tower that rises above the surrounding trees and buildings on Whitehead Street. Built in eighteen forty-eight after a hurricane destroyed the original structure, the current tower and its adjacent living quarters guided ships through the treacherous, shallow reefs of the Florida Keys for over one hundred and twenty years.
