Elizabeth Bishop House & Garden

The Elizabeth Bishop House at six hundred twenty-four White Street is a crisp white building with dark green shutters. It is a vernacular eyebrow house, a style named for the roofline that extends over the second-story windows to provide shade. Built in eighteen eighty-nine, the wood-frame structure remains largely as it was when the poet Elizabeth Bishop lived here between nineteen thirty-eight and nineteen forty-six.
