Eduardo Gato Cigar Factory

The Eduardo Gato Cigar Factory is a Neo-Classical Revival structure built of poured concrete, featuring a large, central open-air courtyard. Located at the corner of Simonton and Amelia Streets, this building replaced an earlier wooden factory that burned down in nineteen fifteen. The current facility, completed in nineteen twenty, was designed to be fireproof to protect the thriving cigar operations that helped transform Key West into a major economic center.
