Saint Peter's Episcopal Church

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Center Street is identifiable by its squat, white-bricked exterior, which carries the distinct look of a Caribbean island fort. Founded in eighteen eighty-seven by a group of Afro-Bahamian immigrants, it holds the distinction of being the first Black Episcopal parish in Florida. The congregation originally held services in various local halls, but they eventually purchased this land and funded the construction of their own sanctuary.
