The Southernmost House is a Queen Anne-style mansion defined by its cream-colored brick exterior, sweeping two-story balconies, and prominent gables overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at the end of Duval Street. Built in eighteen ninety-seven by Judge Vining Harris and his wife, Florida Curry, the estate gained early attention for being the first home in Key West to feature electricity. Florida Curry Harris engaged Thomas Edison to oversee the installation, and a phonograph left behind by the inventor remains in the lobby today.
