Wright Square

Wright Square is defined by its two starkly different central memorials: a massive, ornate granite monument honoring a railroad founder and a simple, unhewn boulder tucked away in a corner. Laid out in seventeen thirty-three as one of Savannah’s original four squares, this space was first known as Percival Square. It later took the name of James Wright, the final royal governor of the province.
