The Savannah History Museum occupies a long, narrow building constructed from Savannah gray bricks that once functioned as a passenger depot for the Central of Georgia Railway. This structure, which dates back to the eighteen fifties and eighteen seventies, is recognized as a National Historic Landmark and stands as the oldest antebellum train depot in the country. It served the railway until nineteen seventy-two and today preserves over ten thousand artifacts related to the city and the Georgia coast.
