This Depression-era townhouse on Lafayette Square served as the residence for the future novelist from her birth in nineteen twenty-five until nineteen thirty-eight. The structure is distinguished by its proximity to the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, whose spires were visible from the young writer's bedroom window.
