Forsyth Park

park garden

Forsyth Park is defined by its ornate, two-tiered cast-iron fountain, which has anchored the north end of this thirty-acre space since eighteen fifty-eight. This park began in the eighteen forties on ten acres donated by William Brown Hodgson, before expanding to its current size in eighteen fifty-one through a gift from John Forsyth, the thirty-third governor of Georgia. The design, drafted by William Bischoff and John B. Hogg, drew inspiration from urban renewal projects in Paris.
