The SCAD Museum of Art is identifiable by an eighty-six-foot-tall steel and glass lantern that rises above the historic skyline. It occupies an eighteen-fifties railway depot, a structure built of Savannah gray brick that served as the headquarters for the Central of Georgia Railway. This building is the only surviving antebellum railroad complex in the United States.
