The Harrison Tower is part of a three-building residential complex defined by its mid-century modernist design and its history as one of Portland’s earliest urban renewal projects. Completed in nineteen sixty-five, the west tower of this group briefly claimed the title of the tallest building in the city before being surpassed four years later. The complex was designed by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and occupies a prominent position in downtown Portland near the campus of Portland State University.
