The Tennessee Map Plaza is defined by a two-hundred-foot-long granite slab that acts as a physical atlas of the state. Carved directly into the ground, this sprawling installation charts every county, city, town, highway, railroad, and river in Tennessee. It was unveiled in nineteen ninety-six as part of the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, a project designed to commemorate the two-hundredth anniversary of Tennessee joining the Union.
