The most prominent feature of this building is the neon Pegasus, a rotating flying red horse mounted high on the roof. The twenty-nine-story tower, known as the Magnolia Dallas Downtown, opened in nineteen twenty-two as the headquarters for the Magnolia Petroleum Company. British architect Alfred C. Bossom designed the structure in a Beaux-Arts style, and upon its completion, it stood as the tallest building in Dallas for nearly twenty years. It also earned the distinction of being the first high-rise in the United States to feature air conditioning throughout.
