The Thomas S. Monson Center stands as a massive, fifty-thousand-square-foot structure defined by its neoclassical design and cement plaster exterior. Originally built between nineteen oh nine and nineteen fourteen for mining magnate Enos Wall, it was widely promoted at the time as the most beautiful and comfortable residence in the West. Architect Richard K. A. Kletting, who also designed the Utah State Capitol, employed innovative techniques here, encasing the home in steel-reinforced concrete to create what was then known as Utah's first fireproof building.
