Memory Grove is defined by the stone Pagoda near its entrance, a circular classical structure featuring eight columns that match the marble used for the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Located at the mouth of City Creek Canyon, the park sits in a gully between Capitol Hill and the Avenues. It was established in nineteen twenty-four as a memorial to Utah’s military dead following a petition by the Service Star Legion, an organization of women whose sons had served in the First World War.
