Brigham Young Monument

The Brigham Young Monument consists of a heroic-sized bronze statue of the pioneer-colonizer standing atop a tall granite pedestal, with his right arm outstretched toward the valley. The base includes bronze figures of a Native American and a fur trapper, representing those who lived in the region before the arrival of the pioneers. A bronze relief on the side of the pedestal portrays a pioneer man, woman, and child, and a plaque lists the names of the members of the original company who arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on July twenty-fourth, eighteen forty-seven.
