Guthrie Artist Studios

The Guthrie Building is a three-story structure in downtown Salt Lake City, easily identified by the large "Ave Maria" mural painted on its side. Built in eighteen ninety, the brick building was originally known as the J.A. Fritsch Building and served as a home for the Fritsch Investment Company and various residential boarders. Over the decades, it housed a Swedish grocery store and a dry cleaner, but it eventually earned its enduring name from the Guthrie Bicycle Company. That business occupied the ground floor for eighty years, anchoring the building through much of the twentieth century.
