A white buoy bearing the Helvetica numerals three one three floats offshore at the bottom of Derwent Lane, bobbing with the movement of the Derwent River. It is the only kinetic sculpture among the nine installations of the Battery Point Sculpture Trail. While other markers on this route are fixed to the land, this buoy rises and falls with the tide, anchored in the waters where Hobart’s maritime history was once centered.
