St. David's Anglican Cathedral

St. David’s Anglican Cathedral stands on the corner of Murray and Macquarie Streets, identifiable by its square stone tower and an arcaded entrance featuring buttressed turrets. This Gothic Revival building is the mother church for the Diocese of Tasmania, though it is the third church to carry the name St. David’s in Hobart. The site’s connection to the city’s early administration is deep; the original wooden church was built over the grave of Lieutenant-Governor David Collins, who founded Hobart Town in eighteen oh four.
