Princes Wharf No. 1

Princes Wharf Number One, widely known as PW one, is a long, concrete structure stretching along the edge of Hobart’s Sullivans Cove. It was built between nineteen thirty-six and nineteen thirty-nine to replace older timber piers that could no longer support the city's growing trade. The marine board chose to reconstruct the wharf in concrete, a daring decision for an Australian port at the time, and hired Claude Cooper and Sons to complete the massive project.
