You can identify Elizabeth Quay by the sweeping, twenty-meter-high suspension bridge that loops over a large, artificial inlet on the edge of the Swan River. This ten-hectare waterfront precinct, which officially opened in twenty-sixteen, was designed to reconnect Perth’s central business district with the riverbank. The area replaces the former Esplanade Reserve, creating a public space of promenades, restaurants, and water-play areas that effectively brought the city’s heart back to the water’s edge.
