His Majesty's Theatre features a grand, four-story facade in the Edwardian Baroque style, standing prominently on the corner of Hay and King Street. Built during the height of the Western Australian gold rush, it opened on Christmas Eve in nineteen oh four. It was the largest theatre in Australia at the time, constructed with reinforced concrete—a pioneering choice for Perth—and designed by architect William Wolfe for the businessman and former lord mayor, Thomas Molloy.
