Opened in nineteen seventy-nine, the main building was designed by Polish-born architect Charles Sierakowski, who utilized a geometry based on one-hundred-and-twenty-degree angles to create unique interior vistas and stimulate peripheral vision. It occupies a site within the Perth Cultural Centre, alongside heritage buildings like the former nineteen-oh-five Perth Police Courts.
