St George's Cathedral is defined by its deep red, handmade brick walls and the steep, gabled roof that anchors the corner of St Georges Terrace. Designed in the Victorian Academic Gothic style by the prominent architect Edmund Blacket, this building took nearly a decade to complete. Construction began in eighteen seventy-nine, and by the time of its consecration in eighteen eighty-eight, it had become a center for the Anglican Diocese of Perth.
