Gledden Building

The Gledden Building stands at the corner of Hay and William Streets, defined by a verticality emphasized by concrete pilasters that rise to its parapet. Completed in nineteen thirty-eight, this eight-storey structure remains the only high-rise office building in Perth designed in the Inter-War Art Deco style. Its architect, Harold Boas, drew inspiration from the vertical lines of American skyscrapers, intending the building to provide a modern commercial presence in the city center.
