Walsh's Building

Walsh's Building occupies the prominent corner of Hay Street and William Street in downtown Perth, identifiable by its symmetrical Inter-war Art Deco facade. This six-story structure replaced an earlier building on the site that was destroyed by a fire in nineteen twenty-one. Designed by architect Talbot Hobbs and constructed between nineteen twenty-two and nineteen twenty-three, the building was originally built to house the Economic Store, which had operated at this location since the eighteen sixties.
