Ottoburg

The Ottoburg is recognized by the ninety red-and-white striped wooden shutters that line its facade. Standing at the entrance to Innsbruck’s Old Town near the Inn Bridge, this late Gothic tower-house dates primarily to the late fifteenth century. While its name suggests a connection to Duke Otto of Andechs, an early figure in the city's history, the structure was actually built during the reign of Emperor Maximilian the First as a defensive element of the city wall.
