The Reep is a waterway and street running through the historic center of Ghent, known as the Nederschelde. For many years, this section of the river was filled in and covered, disappearing from the city landscape. In recent years, the city completed a project to excavate the riverbed, restoring the water to its original course and reconnecting this part of the urban fabric to the Scheldt and Leie rivers.
