The Palácio da Associação Comercial da Bahia is defined by its neoclassical facade, which features symmetrical wings and a central portico supported by Ionic columns. Inaugurated in eighteen seventeen, this building was constructed directly over the foundations of the decommissioned Forte de São Fernando. Its site was once positioned near the water, though subsequent land reclamation projects eventually moved the shoreline away from the structure.
